Since I have met both Original God and God, starting point of meeting God is totally non religious or non physical. If you Pray whole of your life or recite scriptures 3 times or 5 times a day or fast for the whole month or repeat mantra after mantra you as a religious follower or believer of God will not know or see God. Even if God communicates with you, you as a human being will not know it is God speaking with you.
